About Fergal O'Donnell

Fergal O Donnell has over thirteen years experience spanning the public, private, voluntary and community sectors. He has managed a number of youth work, community development and peace building initiatives in rural and urban communities across the region. His work has always focused on developing innovative approaches to tackling poverty, inequality, disadvantage and isolation. With a BSc Hons in Management and a Postgraduate qualification in Community Youth Work, he is an experienced trainer, facilitator, evaluator and researcher. He holds further professional qualifications in Fundraising, Corporate Governance and Social Enterprise.

Fergal is a dedicated grassroots volunteer in his own rural community and plays an integral role across a number of key arts, cultural, childcare and social economy organisations. He spearheaded a redevelopment of the local community building in 2014 which currently boasts a reputation as a leading rural centre of excellence.

His grounded and pragmatic approach to addressing key problems organisations face, coupled with real lived experiences across all sectors, ensures that he brings passion, energy and integrity to every assignment.

Fergal also spent six years as a proprietor in the bar and restaurant trade and currently assists his partner in their award winning kids’ retail business. Fergal has two children, Eabha & Dara, and spends his spare time undertaking endurance challenges such as triathlons and marathons. His next ‘big’ challenge is an Iron Man in 20F16!
